High Angle Rescue

The department trained on proper ascending and descending techniques in their latest ropes rescue class. The use of recently delivered ascenders, climbing harnesses, a variety of life safety ropes and other climbing gear prompted a class on how to safely operate under high angle conditions.

Low Angle Rescue

The addition of low angle rescue equipment allowed Tigerville to train on removing patients from situations where rescuers must descend to retrieve them. Department members worked in groups of four and trained on how to properly secure a Stokes basket to an anchor point and set up basic hauling systems.

 Training Burn

Tigerville Fire Department was given the opportunity to hold a training burn at the structure pictured below. Members of the department were presented with a number of different rescue scenarios, allowing them to employ search-and-rescue tactics learned during previous training. The final scenario was a fully involved structure fire. The scenario provided volunteers with first-hand experience controlling a nozzle and how to perform salvage and overhaul. This training was a success, with everyone in attendance coming away with new knowledge.
