High Angle Rescue

July 16th, 2011


The department trained on proper ascending and descending techniques in their latest ropes rescue class. The use of recently delivered ascenders, climbing harnesses, a variety of life safety ropes and other climbing gear prompted a class on how to safely operate under high angle conditions.

     


     




Low Angle Rescue

May 21st, 2011
    
The addition of low angle rescue equipment allowed Tigerville to train on removing patients from situations where rescuers must descend to retrieve them. Department members worked in groups of four and trained on how to properly secure a Stokes basket to an anchor point and set up basic hauling systems.

     


     




Air Medical Training

The department presented two Air Medical Transport Unit trainings for its members this month. Various areas were covered including equipment uses and locations, ground communications and proper LZ setup.








Auto Extrication Training

The month of August was MVA training month for the department. Our third Saturday training centere around vehicle extrication, including properly securing vehicle and covering different methods of extrication. Both handtools and hydraulic spreader/cutters were used, allowing members to gain valuable extrication training hours.

    






Extrication Simulation

August 6th, 2009
    
Tigerville personnel recently held a classroom and hands-on training directed towards proper extrication of patients from vehicles in an accident. Personnel practiced extricating patients from multiple scenarios using KEDs, long spine boards, c-collars and other packaging equipment. 

  






TARS Auto Extrication

January 23rd-25th, 2009

A number of TFD personnel had the chance to take part in a Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads auto extrication class. This class provides invaluable knowledge and experience for vehicle accidents that require victim extrication. Taught by instructor Joel Woodman, participants learned proper cribbing and support techniques while using hydraulic equipment to cut through the vehicles.







         Training Burn

        January 17th, 2009

Tigerville Fire Department was given the opportunity to hold a training burn in January of this year. Members of the department were presented with a number of different rescue scenarios, allowing them to employ search-and-rescue tactis learned during previous training. The final scenario was a fully involved structure fire. The scenario provided volunteers with first-hand experience controlling a nozzle and how to eprform salvage and overhaul. This training was a success, with everyone in attendance coming away with new knowledge.

                                    Training at Tigerville Fire Department

    Tigerville takes pride in constantly training all of its members so that the newest methods and techniques are always being implemented. The department holds training twice every month, with training taking place on the first Thursday of every month from 6:00 - 10:00 PM and every third Saturday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Members of the department are required to have at least 4 hours of training each month to remain in good standing.
