"Prepared for the worst, providing the best"                            FROM THE CHIEF'S DESK

From the Chief's Desk,

A strong and healthy working relationship with our community is the solid foundation needed for this department to be effective. The relationships we foster with our residents is earned every day, by every member, and the community deserves no less. A positive partnership between our personnel and the community is what we strive for. Our goal is to be prepared for the worst while providing the best customer service we possibly can for our district. Thank you for visiting, and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

                                                    Sincerely,

Q&A:

How long have you been in the fire service?
I have served for over 17 years, and have been with Tigerville FD for that entire time.

What was your reason for starting?
I wanted to make a difference in my community.

What has kept you in the service for so long?
Along with the fact that I was born and raised in this area, I have a number of family and friends in this district.

What are some keys to your success?
The knowledge and experience that others have passed on to me has helped me tremendously.

Where do you see this department in a year?

I can sum my answer up in one statement; financially stable.

Chief Ledford has been in his  position since August of 2008, but his service at Tigerville FD has spanned the past seventeen years. An honors graduate, Ledford pursued a career in auto mechanics. He worked in this field for over ten years, eventually becoming an ASE Certified Master Technician.

In the years leading up to his hiring as chief, he served as both Captain and Asst. Chief of the department. In addition to filling the position of chief, he also serves as Tigerville's Fire Marshall. Another one of his interests in photography, and he is working to obtain a degree in the field.

Chief attributes his success to the support of his wife, Beth. Long nights, interrupted dinners and weekends of having to stay at home in order to cover the district have been part of the job for both of them, and Ledford has said that without her he would not be where he is today.
